Athenahealth

Connecting your Athenahealth system to Knack Flows allows you to securely send data from Athenahealth to your Knack apps.

Setting up the Athenahealth connection in Knack flows

To set up your Athenahealth connection, you will need to set up an app within the Athena developer portal:

Note

There are 3 different connections you can setup in flows for Athenahealth; Athenahealth (athenaOne), Athenahealth (Certified API), and Athenahealth (FHIR).

The steps for all 3 of theses connections is the same and the instructions bellow can be used.

  1. First select if the app you are going to set up in the Athena developer portal will be set to Preview or Production. If you are not sure, select it to preview for now, and you can change it in the future.
  1. Navigate to the Athena developer portal: https://developer.api.athena.io/ams-portal/apps

  2. If you have not done so already, create an account and log in.

  3. Within the developer portal, hit Create a New App.

  4. On the first page, set the API Access and App Category settings that match your use case. If you are unsure, you can set it to the following:

  5. On the next page, you will add the app name and description, along with contact details.

  6. In the section named Authentication Method, set this to be Secret; this allows you to get an API key, which can be used for setting up the link in flows.

  7. Once the app is created, navigate to the Credentials section within the app settings.

  8. Copy the Client ID and Secret.

  1. Paste this in the flow connection setup. Now you are all set up to use AthenaHealth actions in your flow.
