Field Types Overview

Knack offers various field types organized into these categories:

  • Text: Short Text, Paragraph Text, Rich Text, and Text Formula
  • Number: Number, Currency, Equation, Auto Increment, and Formulas
  • Choice: Multiple Choice (Single or Multiple Selections) and Yes/No (Boolean)
  • Date: Date/Time and Timer
  • File: File and Image
  • Personal: Person, Email, Address, Phone, and Signature
  • Other: Rating, Link, Signature, and Connection
  • Formulas: Sum, Min, Max, Average, Count
  • Text Formulas:Combine multiple text fields
  • Equation Fields:Calculations from numbers and dates

Basic Settings for Most Fields

Common settings available for most field types include:

  • Field name: The label that appears in the Builder and Live App
  • Required status: Whether users must provide a value
  • Unique value required: Whether each record must have a different value
  • Description: Helper text that explains the field's purpose
  • Default value: Pre-filled information when creating new records

Field settings can be accessed in the Records tab of the DataTable by clicking the ellipses in the field header and selecting Edit Field Settings
