Your transition to Next-Gen Apps unlocks powerful new capabilities, but some features from Knack Classic are still in development. This article helps you understand what's coming and how to plan your app migration.

What you'll learn:

  • Which Classic features are not yet available in Next-Gen
  • Current development status for each feature

Feature Development Status

The following features are currently available only in Knack Classic. We're actively working to bring them to Next-Gen Apps.

Complete Pivot Table Functionality

Status: Partially available – core feature released, additional capabilities in active development

Pivot tables are now available in Next-Gen Apps, allowing you to summarize and analyze data across multiple dimensions. However, some advanced features are still being developed:

Currently available:

  • Basic pivot table creation
  • Data grouping and aggregation
  • Source filters

Coming soon:

  • User-controlled filters
  • Click-to-expand for grouped records
  • Option to hide empty groups
  • Exporting

Advanced Single Sign-On (SSO)

Status: In active development

What it is: Integration with enterprise authentication systems using SAML and OAuth protocols, allowing users to access your app with their existing corporate credentials.

Payments and E-commerce

Status: Development starting soon

What it is: Built-in payment processing capabilities, including checkout forms.

Real-Time Equation Preview

Status: Future release

What it is: In Knack Classic, you can see equation results using sample data as you create your formula. This instant feedback helps builders ensure correct syntax.

URL Query String Support for Forms

Status: Future release

What it is: Classic forms support dynamic pre-population through URL parameters, allowing you to share links that automatically fill in form fields with specific values.

Example use case: For instance, if you are sharing the link to a job application form on your website, you may want the Job, Job Location, and Referral Source fields to already be filled in for all applicants.
