Click to Expand Group Records in Charts

Did you know you can click directly into your Knack charts to see the records behind the data? The Click to Expand Group Records feature adds an interactive pop-up modal to your charts, revealing every record within a grouped data segment — without leaving the page.

Prerequisites

• At least one report page with a chart added to your app
• A chart that uses grouped data (e.g., a pie chart grouped by a field)

How To Enable It

1. Open the Builder and navigate to Pages in the left-hand menu.
2. Find and open the page where your chart lives.
3. Click into the chart section, then select your chart to edit it.
4. Scroll down to the Options section and toggle on Click to Expand Group Records.
5. Click Save Changes.

Once saved, Knack automatically generates a child page in your sitemap to display those records.

Customizing the Records View

After saving, you can customize the child page just like any other page in your app — reorder fields, hide columns, or add additional data points to tailor what users see in the modal.

Works With More Than Pie Charts

This feature is also available on line charts, so you can use it across multiple report types on the same page.
