Adding & Removing Scheduling
Scheduling is a paid add-on you can attach to any plan, giving your app the ability to manage bookings and appointments. This article explains how availability works across plans, what happens during your trial, and what changes if the add-on is removed.
What you'll learn:
- How Scheduling availability works across plan tiers
- How the free trial and upgrade grace period work
- What happens in the Builder, Page Editor, and Live App if Scheduling is removed
- How to re-enable Scheduling at any time
About the Scheduling Add-on
Scheduling can be added to any Knack plan — it isn't limited to specific tiers. You can also try it out during your free trial without purchasing the add-on first.
Note: The Scheduling Add-on is currently available at a promotional price of $29/month
Scheduling Availability by Plan
| Plan | Availability |
|---|---|
| Starter | Free 14-day trial, then available as a paid add-on |
| Pro and above | Free 14-day trial, then available as a paid add-on |
| Corporate and above | Free 14-day trial, then available as a paid add-on |
| HIPAA Starter | Not available — requires upgrading to HIPAA Pro |
| HIPAA Pro and above | Included |
Trial Periods and Grace Periods
Every eligible plan includes a 14-day free trial of Scheduling, so you can explore the feature before deciding to purchase it.
If you upgrade your plan while your trial is still active, you get a 14-day grace period to keep using Scheduling after the trial would otherwise end. This gives you time to budget for the add-on without losing access mid-upgrade.
If your trial ends on the Starter plan without the add-on being purchased, you'll see a message similar to this:
Note: "Please note that Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), Maps, Geocoding, Custom Domains, and Address Auto-Complete are not available on the Starter plan. Scheduling is not included by default but is available as an add-on. If you've found these features useful during your free trial, we encourage you to explore our Pro plan, which includes them and many others designed to help you succeed."
What Happens When Scheduling Is Removed
The Scheduling add-on can stop being active for a few reasons: you cancel it directly, your trial expires without purchase, or you downgrade to a plan that no longer includes it. The behavior is the same across all three cases.
Cancellation Confirmation
When you cancel or downgrade in a way that removes Scheduling, it appears in the list of features you'll lose access to — alongside other gated features like Geocoding and Payments. The messaging makes clear that Scheduling can be added back on any plan; you don't need to upgrade your plan tier specifically to restore it.
In the Builder
- Your existing Scheduling tables are preserved
- No data or configuration is deleted as a result of losing the add-on
Tip: Because your data stays intact, you can safely remove the add-on temporarily (for example, to reduce costs) and pick up right where you left off once you re-enable it.
In the Page Editor
- If you try to add a new Scheduling element, you'll see an upgrade prompt encouraging you to add the Scheduling add-on
- Any Scheduling element already on a page displays as a placeholder with the same upgrade treatment
- The placeholder makes clear that the add-on itself needs to be (re-)purchased — not that you need a different plan tier
- You won't be able to configure or interact with the Appointment element until the add-on is active again
In the Live App
- Scheduling elements no longer render on your live pages
- Their absence doesn't cause errors or a broken layout
- The rest of the page — and any other elements on it — continues to work normally
Note: Pages that previously included a Scheduling element remain fully functional; only the Scheduling element itself is not shown.
Re-enabling Scheduling
You can re-purchase the Scheduling add-on at any time, from any plan (with the exception of HIPAA Starter) — it's not tied to a specific plan upgrade. Once re-enabled:
- Existing Scheduling elements in the Page Editor become configurable again
- Live App pages resume rendering the Scheduling element
- All previously saved table data and configuration are still there, unchanged
Troubleshooting
My Scheduling table disappeared from the Builder after I removed the add-on.
This shouldn't happen — Scheduling tables and their data are always preserved when the add-on is removed. If you're not seeing your table, check that you're looking in the correct app and reach out to support.
A Scheduling element vanished from my live page.
This is expected behavior once the add-on is inactive. The element is hidden rather than deleted, and the rest of the page continues to function normally. Re-enable the add-on to restore it.
I'm on the HIPAA Starter plan and can't add Scheduling.
Scheduling isn't available on HIPAA Starter. You'll need to upgrade to HIPAA Pro or a standard (non-HIPAA) plan to access it.
