What's Not Available in Next-Gen Apps
Your transition to Next-Gen Apps unlocks powerful new capabilities, but some features from Knack Classic are not available.
What you'll learn:
- Which Classic features are not yet available in Next-Gen
URL Query String Support for Forms
What it is: Classic forms support dynamic pre-population through URL parameters, allowing you to share links that automatically fill in form fields with specific values. For security reasons, we have not included this functionality in Next-Gen.
Example use case: For instance, if you are sharing the link to a job application form on your website, you may want the Job, Job Location, and Referral Source fields to already be filled in for all applicants.
JavaScript DOM Manipulation
The transition from Classic to Next-Gen Knack represents a shift in JavaScript customization architecture. Classic applications use jQuery and traditional DOM manipulation patterns, while Next-Gen introduces a React-based system with vanilla (aka native) JavaScript patterns, different event handling, and a virtual DOM.
